New Holiday Social Communication Groups for Ages 5–9

We’re excited that we’ll be running Holiday Social Communication Groups for children aged 5–9 years this April. These small, supportive groups are designed to help children build confidence, connect with peers, and practise everyday communication skills — all through fun, hands‑on activities.

What are the groups about?

Our holiday groups offer a relaxed, playful environment where children can:

  • Interact with peers in a supported setting

  • Practise social and communication skills

  • Build confidence expressing themselves

  • Explore sensory, craft, and movement‑based activities

  • Enjoy positive shared experiences during the school break

Sessions are run by experienced Speech Pathologists who gently guide children to participate, communicate, and have fun at their own pace.

What will they do?

Each session includes a mix of:

  • Craft activities

  • Sensory play

  • Movement games

  • Simple teamwork challenges

Activities are flexible and tailored to the children attending. Examples include building creations from boxes, sensory art stations, obstacle missions, and small group challenges.

Who can join?

  • Children aged 5–9 years who can participate in a small group setting with some support.

  • Children are welcome to join more than one group if they’d enjoy it.

Session details

  • 45‑minute group session

  • Billed at 70 minutes (includes preparation and notes)

Cost & Funding

  • Not Medicare‑claimable

  • NDIS claimable (Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living)

Approximate cost per child:

  • $93.10 per session

  • This rate is based on 5 children in a group run by 2 Speech Pathologists

  • 45 minutes of direct therapy and 35 minutes of indirect time (set-up, feedback to parents, treatment notes and packing away)

  • Cost is dependant on the number of participants and clinicians. We aim to keep costs as low as possible and may include an Allied Health Assistant where appropriate.
